01

Generate a starting sketch

Use this chord progression generator to draft four or eight bars: choose a key, mode, and starting feel. Eight bars repeat the opening idea so you can edit the second pass.

02

Reshape the sequence

Open Edit on a card to change its root, quality, or beat length. Add, move, or remove cards until the order fits your idea. Generate replaces the current sequence.

03

Hear it and take it away

Play the whole sequence or hear one card. Copy chords takes the names and tempo; Download MIDI takes the current edited notes and durations.

What goes into the MIDI download?

The file contains one block of simultaneous notes per card, at the selected tempo and beat length. It carries no melody, drum part, or recorded instrument audio. The Keys, Plucked, and Bass controls change only the browser preview sound; choose an instrument and refine the voicing in your music app.

Keep the version you like

This workspace does not save a history or require an account. Copy the names or download the MIDI file before leaving. If you need a four-chord reference with Roman numerals and music-theory examples, visit the chord progressions guide and tool.
