Your tool activity

Chord, scale, and progression calculations happen on your device. The current selections are stored in the page address after the # so that you can copy a link to the same tool state. The website does not provide a server account or database for those selections.

When you play a note or chord, your browser downloads recorded instrument samples from this website. The sample request does not contain an uploaded recording from you.

Website requests and analytics

Loading a page or audio sample sends a normal request to the hosting provider. That request can include an IP address, the requested file, time, and browser request headers. The site needs these requests to deliver its pages and audio.

If you choose Allow analytics, this site loads Google Analytics 4 to measure page visits and the steps people take through its tools and lessons. Analytics can collect session statistics, approximate location, browser and device information, and on-site actions. Google Analytics uses a first-party _ga cookie to distinguish users and sessions. My Chord Finder does not send chord names, selected notes, recordings, email addresses, or other user-entered text in analytics events. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled in the site tag.

Your choice is stored in this browser. If you decline, the Google Analytics tag is not loaded. You can clear this site's local storage to make the choice again. Learn more in Google's Analytics data collection documentation. External music-theory references are ordinary links and are contacted only when you choose to open them.

Third-party advertising

My Chord Finder plans to display third-party advertising to support the website. No advertising network is currently connected, and no advertising code is loaded at present.

Before advertising is enabled, this notice will be updated to name the provider and link to its privacy and choice information. Advertising providers may use cookies, similar storage, web beacons, an IP address, browser information, and pages visited to serve ads, measure performance, and prevent fraud. Depending on the provider and your choices, ads may be personalised. The tools will not send your chord or scale selections to an advertiser as uploaded user content.

Email

If you email My Chord Finder, the recipient receives your email address and the information you choose to send. That information is used to read and respond to your message. Do not send sensitive information or private recordings.
